Hello my fellow shelf dusters and welcome to our show "The ICT hour!!!".
I'm your host, the builder of ABS and tonight we're going to review a figure I was longing for since I started collecting back in 2019, a nendoroid of Monika! (best girl no cap) item/1243335.
Before we'll begin, let's have a look at some background information of the character this figure is based on.
This information was taken from the Doki Doki Literature Club wiki page:
Monika (モニカ) is the one of the four main characters and poster girl of Doki Doki Literature Club!. She is the one of the five members and President of the Literature Club.
Monika has extensively long coral brown hair that she keeps tied up in a high ponytail tied back with a large white bow, curled slightly at the ends. Like the other female characters, she has two prominent strands of hair beside her bangs that reach slightly past her chest. Her eyes are emerald green. She is considered to be the second tallest character, behind Yuri or the protagonist, by Japanese standards.
She wears the standard female school uniform consisting of a warm gray blazer fully buttoned and untucked, brown sweater vest, white shirt fully buttoned and tucked, red ribbon, dark blue pleated skirt, black thigh-high socks and white uwabaki slippers with pink tips.
The other characters describe Monika as intelligent, confident, and athletic. Monika is also known to be highly popular, which makes the protagonist admire her. She is always depicted as mature and hardworking, with a serene, compassionate expression on her face.
Now that we're done with that, LET'S BEGIN WITH THE REVIEW!!!
THE BOX 8/10, Upon the surface, this looks like your ordinary nendo box but aside of the nice texture around the box from the back to the sides, the inside of this box can be used as a backdrop! the inside cardboard of the box has the design of the classroom (which makes the box an accessory on it's own!).
So overall, a regular box, but with an extra edge.

THE NENDOROID
The nendoroid came out in October the 5th 2022. It was made out of PVC&ABS at an approximate height of 100mm. It was sculpted by Shichibee entry/40352 with the cooperation of Nendoron entry/8163 and was manufactured by Good Smile Company entry/7620. Now let's look at the in-depth critiques of best girl.
Sculpt: 8.5/10 (rounded to 9), The sculpt of best girl is just as good as the promotional pictures! it really looks like goodsmile went all out with her which is pretty rare with their figures in this day and age.
The front hair piece is quite detailed which is very nice, the same as her wavy ponytail.
Her bow is very well sculpted and her faces too. Seeing her creepy faceplate up close is really amazing. The mouth inside is open and the teeth are detailed. doing that with a flesh tone makes it even creepier than in the game which is epic (no wonder so many people bought her lol).
The sculpt of the body is really nice, reminds me that of Erika Sendou item/61352 minus the emblem and plus the sweater, the folds on the skirt are quite detailed and the sculpt of her accessories is pretty damn good.
Overall, this nendoroid really excels in the sculpt department!
Paint job: 8/10, The paintwork on best girl is pretty good and on-point! she has some light brown shading on her hair which is nothing like the nendoroid of Alpha item/995270 or A2 item/1182241.
The paintwork on her uniform is pretty nice and her faceplates are that much amazing! once again, the scary faceplate is the most impressive one with the amount of paint and decal detail displayed.
Unfortunately with mine, my copy of best girl had a QC problem around the end of her ponytail:
Other than that, the paintwork is pretty solid on this nendoroid.
Posing: 9/10, Posing best girl is just amazing! I like how the poses are more faithful to the original game rather than the new poses that garbage version DDLC+ had with the crappy new artstyle. you can also do the pose of her leaning forward and the classic classroom scene from act 3 with the table. Best girl also comes with cutouts with dialogues from the game aswell as other accessories, but I haven't opened mine because I prefer to laminate them so they can be preserved for a longer time.
For the DDLC anniversary, team salvato even came out with free templates for you to make your own dialogue boxes for your nendoroid and to print them aswell teamsalvato.com... ...except that they forgot to mention that this template requires a font! that font is Aller btw, you can find it in 1001fonts.com for free aswell, your welcome.
Base: 7/10, It's just a large nendo base, nothing too fancy, only downside that it's a bitch to put best girl on the base sitting on her chair with the desk on properly without the legs of the chair or desk falling into the holes, so if you do that setup, don't use the base.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Best girl is just as good as I imagined her to be. If you want to buy her I'd say 40-50$ is a solid price for her but all in all she's a very good nendoroid that could fit in anyone's collection. Highly recommended!
